How I “Spruced Up” my New Home and Made it Prettier!!!
July 24, 2024

I want to tell you a little bit about my garden. I’ve been working on it since last year. Last year I turned about a 2 ft. to 3 ft. deep section and about 6 ft. to 8 ft. wide and planted Yellow Canna Lilies and I had some Pink and White Shamrocks mixed in with them.  Last fall I started to increase the bed by about two and a half 3 ft. I had to first turn my dirt with a shovel to soften it up and I found a big rock in one end of it, so I had to get it dug out and pulled out. Once I did that I let it sit during the winter.

This spring I mixed in potting soil and some leaves from the yard to improve the texture of the dirt and turned it again and softened the dirt up again. I had been buying up flowers that I wanted to plant. I had bought some tomato plants and had nine all together, but I only planted six. I figured that was more than enough, so I gave my daughter-in-law the other three for her garden . The name of those tomato plants are “Early Girl”. They’re supposed to put out all summer long as long as it gets below 70° in the summertime at night for them to bloom.

Some plants, two yellow and some Blue Magic Dutch Iris bulbs. In  another flower bed I have a Blue Hosta that I split up and made three and got those spaced out.  I had some Red/Orange Cocks Cone and I put those in there . I then found some Snow Bells (that’s what I call them) that come up in the spring and have little tiny white flowers on them. I planted those around the outside edge.  I also made three hanging baskets one with petunias (White, Pink, and Rose colored) and the other two have Snapdragons, Xenia and a tall yellow flower called Moonshine Yarrow.

I can’t remember if they’ve got anything else, but I do have some pictures I may try to put up here to show you what I’ve done. I try to get outside and do a little bit in my yard to make it look pretty, at least it’s pretty to me when I drive in the driveway. Stay tuned for the next blog and we will have more fun. Thanks for Stopping By and I look forward to seeing you here again Soon!!
